Romanian fund manager authorisation (ASF)
Romania has the largest domestic economy in South-Eastern Europe and a growing local investment industry to match. A Romanian manager sits close to regional deal flow and to an expanding base of domestic investors.
The regulator
The Autoritatea de Supraveghere Financiară authorises and supervises fund and asset managers under the Romanian implementation of the EU framework. It expects the investment function to be genuinely performed in Romania rather than delegated back to a foreign parent.
What the licence permits
Regulated under the ASF
- Manage alternative investment funds from Romania
- Provide discretionary portfolio management to Romanian clients
- Access regional deal flow and a growing domestic investor base
- Passport management and marketing across EEA markets
Who it suits
Managers running South-Eastern European strategies, and firms raising from a domestic investor base that is expanding steadily.
Market access
EEA passporting for management and for marketing to professional investors, from the largest economy in South-Eastern Europe.
What to weigh
Supervision runs substantially in Romanian and the local servicing market is developing. This is a base for managers with a genuine regional thesis.
