Lithuanian fund manager authorisation (Bank of Lithuania)
Lithuania is better known for payments, but its central bank also authorises fund and asset managers, and the same policy intent that built the fintech sector applies to funds. It suits managers who want an efficient EU base and a supervisor accustomed to newer firms.
The regulator
The Bank of Lithuania supervises fund managers alongside its wider financial supervision remit. Having grown its regulated population quickly, it has become progressively firmer on substance and governance across all the sectors it oversees.
What the licence permits
Regulated under the Bank of Lithuania
- Manage alternative investment funds from Lithuania
- Provide discretionary portfolio management to Lithuanian clients
- Establish Lithuanian collective investment vehicles
- Passport fund management and marketing into the wider EEA
Who it suits
Emerging managers who want an efficient euro area base, and groups already operating a Lithuanian payments or investment entity.
Market access
EEA passporting for fund management and for marketing to professional investors across the single market.
What to weigh
The fund servicing ecosystem is younger than in the established domiciles, and international institutional investors may still default to Dublin or Luxembourg. Weigh the fundraising implication, not just the running cost.
We run the Lithuania application end to end
Whether you build from new or acquire an existing licensed entity, BrokLicense handles incorporation, the regulator application, the AML and compliance framework, safeguarding and banking arrangements, and the operating stack. You stay the principal. We do the work, in confidence, and stay on for compliance once you are live.
Cost, capital, and timelines depend on your model and are set out in a first consultation, under NDA, not published here.
